Empowering Lives Through Sustainable Livelihoods
Welcome to the heart of change, where the Farmers’ Integrated Development Association (FIDA) is spearheading initiatives for Livelihood Sustainability, touching the lives of communities in Pakistan.
Under the banner of “Improving Livelihood through Farmers Capacity Building Program,” FIDA has undertaken a diverse range of activities, ensuring a holistic approach towards sustainable development. From empowering farmers with essential skills to promoting environmental resilience, our initiatives are designed to uplift the most vulnerable.
FIDA's impact encompasses a spectrum of programs, including Capacity Building trainings, engaging male and female farmers. These sessions cover essential topics like water conservation, modern farming practices, and food preservation techniques. Our commitment extends to educational events, with farmers participating in engaging field days.
In pursuit of sustainable agriculture, FIDA has established demonstration plots for wheat and fodder, fostering hands-on learning. Recognizing the importance of kitchen gardens, we've provided plots for families, identified through the Participatory Wealth Ranking (PWR) and Progress Out of Poverty Index (PPI) survey.
FIDA is not just cultivating crops; we're cultivating futures. Through initiatives like the "Equip Rural Communities with Modern Skills" project, we've trained youth in vocational courses, established skill development centers, and promoted the significance of technical and vocational training at the village level. Our commitment to market empowerment is evident in the formation of Farmers' Interest Groups and linkages with government and corporate sectors.
FIDA understands the delicate balance between environmental resilience and community well-being. We've distributed goats to empower 80 women, established biogas plants, and trained youths in vermicomposting. With the formation of the "Green Army," consisting of 100 youths, we're fostering a sense of environmental responsibility and community engagement.
Through strategic partnerships and innovative projects like "Mitigating the Effects of Cotton Leaf Curl Virus (CLCuV)," FIDA is addressing challenges head-on. Farmer Field Schools (FFS) and Woman Open Schools (WOS) have been established, training hundreds to improve resistance to the virus. The "Protecting Children and Women from Exposure to Pesticides" initiative showcases our commitment to community health.
